It's impossible to list everything Emily does without her spending all her time fixing her website and not having any time left to actually do these projects! But here are the main, ongoing projects into which Emily throws most of her passion and enthusiasm.
- CarmenCo Trio
- Andrews Massey Duo
- Duo Correa Andrews
- Clube do Choro Bristol / YARA
- Ham Farm Festival
CarmenCo Trio
- a prizewinning trio: Emily on flute and voice, David Massey and Francisco Correa on classical guitars.
CarmenCo pride themselves on their originality - finding new, unique and entertaining ways to present classical music. They are currently touring A Pocket Opera - a comedic concert presented as a play, with costumes, props and a storyline roughly following Bizet’s Carmen, but told from her point of view.

Andrews Massey Duo
-a multiple-prizewinning, genre-spanning flute and guitar duo (with voices)
Based in London and Bristol, they perform many of their own arrangements from both the folk and the classical world, and are known for the diversity and depth of their programmes as well as their virtuosity and musicianship. Emily and David's arrangements are performed by duos all over the world, and they also compose and record bespoke soundtracks for podcasts, or films, using their skills as multi-instrumentalists as well as plenty of imagination.

Duo Correa Andrews
Emily and her husband, guitarist Francisco Correa
Emily and Francisco are currently touring a programme of Colombian classical music - "music from the land of 1000 rhythms" - including many pieces which have been written or arranged for their duo. These pieces mix classical and Colombian folk styles, drawing heavily on the rhythms and dances of central Colombia, but using more complex harmonies than traditionally used in folk music. The resulting music is worthy of world recognition on the concert stage while remaining undeniably Colombian.
They also have an interest in contemporary music, and working with composers, and this spring will release a CD (under the Deux-Elles label) of composer Stephen Goss's entire works for flute and guitar. |
Clube do Choro Bristol / yara
- an inclusive community group of Brazilian music lovers
Emily and her husband Francisco set up Clube do Choro Bristol in 2020. It's an inclusive group of Brazilian music lovers who meet on the third Wednesday of every month in Snuffy Jacks in Fishponds, Bristol, to make choro music together. A wonderful community has grown around this group, who also perform at summer festivals each year. The best way to join is either to pop along sometime for a drink while we're playing, or to contact us through the facebook page.
Yara is a professional quartet formed from a subset of this group, performing gigs and workshops around Bristol using this fab Brazilian choro music. |
